Licensed Education Advisers vary in expertise, the fees they charge and the level of service they offer. You may wish to speak to several LECs before deciding which one best meets your needs.
There are no prescribed fee schedules for advice by Licensed Fee Schedules, and students are encouraged to compare fee proposals from different counsellors. However, although Licensed Education Counsellors may charge you a fee for their advice, they often are paid by the New Zealand education provider and then do not charge the student anything. This means that their advice often is not charged separately to the student. However, many education counsellors offer additional services, i.e. visa application work, travel and insurance advice, accommodation referrals in New Zealand, etc. for which they might charge additional fees.
